Your telephone number:
Your chinese prepaid card will come with a chinese phone number on a sticker placed on the back of the card in the upper right hand side. It will begin with 13 or 15....
To activate your prepaid card:
- As soon as you arrive in China you can place your SIM card into any unlocked cell phone.
- Turn the telephone on.
- Dial 13800138000 to activate your card. When you hear the recording begin to speak, press 2 for options in English. Then press 1 to hear your account status.
To receive a call:
The prepaid SIM cards are registered with a chinese phone number. Be sure when giving your number to friends and family you include + 86 or 00 86 before the rest of the phone number.
To place a call:
To make a call to another country call + or 00 (the Country Code) (the City Code, without the 0) and (the Phone Number).
Example for the UK: 00 + 44 +20 + 793 69 100 (Our number in London)
TIP: For especially inexpensive calls to London dial 17951 before the 00. This places the call over an internal internet connection which reduces the cost.
To call another telephone in China be sure to include the city code. Likewise to reach a chinese cell phone you must include a 0 before the phone number.
To top up/re-load your minutes:
Re-loading your mobile card is easy and can be done all throughout China. Just purchase a voucher in any hotel, kiosk, or shop. Be sure to request a ChinaMobile voucher.
